The Iraq History Project (IHP) database allows the material gathered to be analyzed in various ways.
This section presents general statistics regarding the testimonies as well as some preliminary analysis.
Almost one-third of all interviewees were women.
This allows the IHP to present significant information on women’s experiences of past violations including sexual violence and rape.

Ethnicity of interviewees – The IHP gathered testimonies from a diverse group of Iraqis.
The vast majority of testimonies were from Sunni Kurds and Arab Shi’a, but IHP also gathered testimonies from Sunni Arabs, Shi’a Kurds, Turkoman, Assyrians, Yazidis and others.

Regional distribution – The IHP gathered testimonies from
throughout the country.
Number of testimonies by Governorate
In general, the IHP was able to effectively gather data from all governorates with the exception of those with the most severe security problems,
such as Anbar and Salah al-Din.

Violations – The IHP has gathered testimonies documenting a variety of violations, including a substantial number of personal narratives regarding massacres, torture, rape, disappearance, and displacement.
